Move Over, It’s Movember!

30 11 2008

Since it is the last day of November, that also means that it is the last day of Movember. For those who don’t know, Movember takes place throughout the month of November to help raise awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. Men are encouraged to grow moustaches (a.k.a. a Mo) to get people talking about their Mo and ultimately, men’s health and donating to the charity.

This was the first year that I had heard about Movember (thanks to many people on Twitter, specifically my friend Miranda, @ilovecpstyle.) Miranda was able to get a group of us on the guest list, and this past Thursday night, celebrations went down at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto.

I spent the month of November with a Movemberized avatar on my Twitter, and even got called out by @juliaroy on her Tweet Week (episode two) and @TDefren who sent me a super sweet Mo-Sista Movember T-shirt for my dedication throughout the month.

What were the results? In Canada alone, people raised $1.7 million, and $29 million world-wide. That’s amazing!

Below are some pictures from the Movember Gala Parté, picture Miranda made for me, as well as my cat Danka getting her Mo on. Please enjoy and make sure to spread the word about men’s health, prostate cancer awareness, and Movember!

I would’ve loved to have supported this!! Especially with the recent diagnosis of my father! Hopefully next year!
