Toronto, Toronto (Chapter Two)

16 04 2008

It is that time again, boys and girl. My once a week likes and dislikes of Toronto. I have so much to write about that I could almost have three posts in one, but I shall contain myself. Shall we begin?

Likes

Spring has sprung! About a week and a half ago, I started noticing little sprouts protruding from the flower beds along the perimeter of my building. The maintenance people planted some flowers  to go along with the little sprouts (some hyacinths and pansies).  To go along with the theme of Spring, my aunts have fresh tulips in the apartment. They are extremely fragrant and I have to move them out of the room when I go to bed (allergies, gotta love them).

Dislikes

People lacking manners. I have always been a stickler for proper manners, but Toronto, you have let me down. People all around the city are just so rude! Whether it is on the subway, streetcar or just walking down the street, the people I come across just do not have the phrase “excuse me” in their vocabulary. I have been getting pushed, shoved and knocked out of the way (especiallyon the subway and street cars). Just yesterday, on two separate occasions, intimate body parts (male and female) were grazed against by body with no apology or fair warning. If there is one thing I hate about public transit, it is people’s bodies rubbing against me (it is OK in other situations, if you know what I mean). It makes me really uncomfortable and I shudder a little bit on the inside. But I just cringe and bare it because there is nothing else I can do.

So there is this week’s edition of Toronto Likes and Dislikes. I think I may update again later in the week because I have so much to talk about.
